Review ~ Home Field by Laurie Winter

One year after her husband is killed in action, Julie Ellis is back in her hometown and focused on raising her young son. Then Reagan Harrison bursts into her life—a cocky, charming linebacker who leaves her off balance.

As a successful, professional athlete, Reagan believes he has it all. But after meeting Julie, he finds every excuse in the book to spend time with her. Despite his best efforts not to fall too hard, Reagan envisions a future with Julie, along with the little boy he’s come to love as his own.

While Reagan’s protective love begins to mend Julie’s spirit, she can’t suppress her continued deep devotion to her late husband’s memory. And when a letter arrives from beyond the grave, Reagan resolves to provide her with the answers she desperately needs to heal. Now Julie must choose either to keep her heart closed off or remove the lock and fight for a future with Reagan. Can a second chance at true love be just as sweet?

Home Field was one of the best books that I have read this year. Laurie Winter captures her audiences heart and attention right from the very moment they flip the first page. Winters writes a beautiful story about Julie Ellis, a war widow who is trying to start over after losing the lover of her life who was killed in war. Trying to get answers on her husbands death consumes Julie, desperatly trying to find out how he was killed. Julie focuses her life around her son, who is passionate about football. When the opportunity presents itself to attend a dinner with the professional football team in honor of war veterans, Julie is encouraged to attend by her friends and family. When she is seated next to the handsome, charming and “player” (in more ways then one) Reagan Harrison, sparks fly between the two.

Reagan Harrison never has an issue with getting women but has a rule about single moms. That all flys out the window when he seated next to the beautiful and charming Julie Ellis. Reagan cannot seem to stay away from this sweet, beautiful women and her charming son. A budding friendship begins between the two and eventually they cannot fight it anymore and the passion between them fuels.

Laurie Winters does a fabulous job in writing a story that not will only warm your heart and soul, but bring a tear to your eye and bring a smile to your face. Her ability to capture her readers in this charming tale is a surprisingly warm tale of love, friendship, loss and new beginnings. If you are looking for a book that will leave you with a warm feeling and is a great read, then Home Field definitely should be added to your To-Be-Read Shelf.
